Meet Our Founders

Co-founders Jorge Delgado and Nick York – while from very different backgrounds in Cuba and the United States – share a passion for Cuba, its people, and the potential benefits that improved U.S.-Cuba relations has for the people of both countries.

Jorge Delgado

Jorge was born and raised in Sancti Spiritus, the central part of Cuba, where his family still resides today. Fortunate to have been raised in a Cuban family and society that valued education, he was afforded the opportunity at a young age to study abroad, studying in Moscow, Munich and eventually Harvard University’s Kennedy School.  Jorge’s education and career have spanned three decades of international relations, business and non-profit experience in Latin America, Europe and the United States.

Having held executive positions with such notable organizations as Paulaner-Heineken Schörghuber Gruppe, The Cleveland Foundation and Johnson & Johnson, Jorge’s passion and dreams have always remained with Cuba, its people and the enduring potential its future holds.

Nick York

Nick’s education and career can best be described as three decades operating at the intersection of business, law, and government in Cleveland, Columbus, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. A lifelong student of history and politics, Nick has been fascinated with U.S.-Cuba relations since earning his bachelors degree in political science (Ohio University) and his law degree (Capital University). Nick’s fascination turned to a deeper understanding and more passionate commitment, after meeting Jorge, while both were living and working in Cleveland in 2006.

Whether as a senior leader of a national law firm, Tucker Ellis LLP, Trustee of University of Akron, or an investor in numerous companies over his career, maximizing the potential of people and organizations has been Nick’s focus and joy.
