We have organized them into four basic categories: Architecture and Real Estate, Business Immersion/Entrepreneurship, Education and Cultural Exchange and Professional Association Conferences.

Day 1
Cuban History and Culture – University of Havana
Tour of the University of Havana. Interactive discussion with professors and students on Cuba’s history, culture and institutions to better understand recent and future changes in Cuba’s development.

Visit Fabrica de Artes
A multimedia artistic venue for visual photography, cinema and dance. F.A.C. houses exhibitions and community workshops.

Day 2
Urban Community Development Project – Quinta Los Molinos
Visit to local community development projects in Havana; including Quinta Los Molinos and others focused on support for animals, children, and the elderly in Havana’s urban center. Work alongside Cuban teachers and students on active community development projects.

Day 3
Rural Cuba – Las Terrazas
Travel and visit to Las Terrazas Community and Nature Preserve in Artemisa Province. Home to many artists and studios. Explore the rural community and visit local schools in the UNESCO designated Biosphere Reserve; including local farming operations and artist

Day 4
Cuban Cuisine – El Paladres
Visit to local Paladares (privately owned restaurants) to learn about the history and importance of Cuban Cuisine. Prepare and sample some of Cuba’s best dishes; breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Cuban Music & Dance – ASSEN Dance
Overview of the cultural significance in Cuban life of music and dance at the famous ASSEN Cuba. Interactive presentation and discussion with instructors and students of the world-class, privately run, professional dance school and company.

 

Day 1 / Monday

  • Arrive in Havana and hotel check-in
  • Dinner at one of the Old City of Havana’s famous Paladares (privately owned restaurants) and meeting with Cuban owner/operators for insights on developing  private property in Cuba

Day 2 / Tuesday

Morning:

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Introduction to the Old City of Havana. Guided walking tour and engagement with representatives of the Office of the City Historian to discuss historic redevelopment projects in Havana and other historic cities

Afternoon:

  • Lunch at a Paladar
  • Presentation on economic development and the development of Cuba’s private sector with members of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Office of Foreign Direct Investment
  • Dinner in Old Havana with architects, business owners/operators and invitees from the Office of the City Historian of Havana to discuss Cuba regulations, legal framework and opportunities for future engagement

Day 3 / Wednesday

Morning:

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Visit to redevelopment and restoration projects in Old Havana to meet with project managers and operations team; interact with project manager to discuss insights and advice regarding technical challenges of historic redevelopment in Cuba

Afternoon:

  • Lunch at a local Paladar with local architects, project managers, and construction experts
  • Meeting with local private property owners in Old Havana to see status of redevelopment projects of restaurants, shops, galleries, casa particular (small private hotels) and others
  • Dinner

Day 4 / Thursday

Morning:

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Visiting the University of Havana. Meeting with professors and students. Presentation on the history and future of Cuban architecture. Interactive discussion with academic experts on Cuba’s history, culture and institutions to better understand the context of recent and future changes in Cuba’s architectural development

Afternoon:

  • Lunch in Old Havana at a Paladar
  • Cuban music & dance. Overview of the cultural significance in Cuban life of music and dance at the famous Dance Cuba. Interactive presentation and discussion with instructors and students of this world-class, privately run, professional dance school and company
  • Dinner in Old Havana
  • A Night of Cuban music and dance with our Cuban friends and family in Havana. Outside the typical “tourist venues”, you’ll experience an authentic night of fun, friends and family

Day 5 / Friday

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Visit to the Office of the Historian’s other major redevelopment projects, including the Capitol Building, hotels and community housing development
  • Program recap and group discussion regarding future interests and visits to Cuba
  • Depart to Havana Airport and return flight to Miami

  • Dinner in Old Havana with business owners/operators and invitees from the Office of Foreign Direct Investment to discuss Cuba’s regulations, legal framework and opportunities for future engagement

Day 3 / Wednesday

Morning:

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Visit to Cuban company to meet with General Manager and Operations Team; interact with GM to discuss insights and advice regarding doing business in Cuba

Afternoon:

  • Excursion to Viñales (2 hour drive, one-way)
  • Lunch at local/rural Paladar on the way to Viñales to meet with local entrepreneurs outside of Havana to compare and contrast business and life in locations outside the capital city
  • Visit to privately run farm and agricultural businesses along the way to further compare and contrast business and life in locations outside the capital city
  • Dinner in Viñales at local Paladar and late return to Havana

Day 4 / Thursday

Morning:

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Tour of the University of Havana. Meeting with professors and students. Presentation and interactive discussion regarding the future of entrepreneurship and Cuba’s new private sector from academic experts on Cuba’s history, culture and institutions to better understand the context of recent and future changes in Cuba

Afternoon:

  • Lunch in Old Havana at local Paladar near the University of Havana
  • Focus on Cuban music & dance. Overview of the cultural significance in Cuban life of music and dance at the famous Dance Cuba. Interactive presentation and discussion with instructors and students of this world-class, privately run, professional dance school and company
  • Dinner in Old Havana and a night of Cuban music and dance with our Cuban friends and family in Havana. Outside the typical “tourist venues”, you’ll experience an authentic night of fun, friends and family

  • Presentation on the economic development, entrepreneurship and the development of Cuba’s private sector with members of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Office of Foreign Direct Investment
  • Dinner in Old Havana with invitees from the day’s presentations

Day 3 / Wednesday

Morning:

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Visit with Cuban Lawyers responsible for advising on matters related to commercial code development to discuss insights and advice regarding U.S. and other foreign companies doing business in Cuba

Afternoon:

  • Meeting with representatives of the Office of Foreign Direct Investment to discuss Cuba regulations, legal framework and opportunities for future engagement
  • Members of our group will provide introduction, insights and experiences with U.S. commercial law and the impact of U.S. business and regulatory requirements for engagement in Cuba
  • Dinner in Havana with invitees of the day’s meetings

Day 4 / Thursday

Morning:

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Introduction to Old City of Havana. Guided walking tour and engagement with local business/shop owners and representatives of the Office of the City Historian to discuss historic redevelopment projects and the legal challenges to future development in Havana and other historic cities

Afternoon:

  • Lunch in Old Havana at local Paladar
  • Cuban music & dance. An overview of popular music and dance and its cultural significance in Cuban life at the famous Dance Cuba. Interactive presentation and discussion with instructors and students of this world-class, privately run, professional dance school and company
  • Dinner in Old Havana
  • A Night of Cuban music and dance with our Cuban friends and family in Havana. Outside the typical “tourist venues”, you’ll experience an authentic night of fun, friends and family to better understand what it means to be fully engaged with the Cuban people
